Mosaic of Cultures Hosts El-Funoun Palestinian Dance Troupe for 2026 Canada Tour

Ya Saheb Al Tair

Brings Palestine's celebrated dance tradition to Mississauga, Montreal and Ottawa this October

Mosaic of Cultures is proud to host and present the El-Funoun Palestinian Dance Troupe on its 2026 Canada Tour, bringing one of Palestine's most celebrated dance ensembles to audiences across three Canadian cities this October.

From October 25 to 29, 2026, El-Funoun will perform Ya Saheb Al Tair (The Bird Owner) in Mississauga, Montreal and Ottawa, offering audiences an evening of powerful movement, collective storytelling and contemporary Palestinian artistic expression.

The tour is presented by Mosaic of Cultures, in collaboration with the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), the Canadian Palestinian Foundation of Quebec (CPFQ) and the Association of Palestinian Arab Canadians (APAC).

For Mosaic of Cultures, hosting El-Funoun in Canada is part of a broader commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for Canadian audiences to encounter Palestinian art and culture directly through the artists, creators and cultural practitioners who shape it.

A living expression of Palestinian memory

At the heart of the tour is Ya Saheb Al Tair, a collective artistic work by El-Funoun that reflects on every Palestinian's relationship and responsibility to their people, history and land.

The performance looks at more than seven decades of Palestinian history through the language of dance. Through powerful movement and shared rituals, lived memory, resilience and survival are transformed into expressions of beauty and hope.

The Palestinian body becomes a living archive of collective memory. Every movement carries a story. Every step becomes an act of remembrance, resistance and renewal.

The performance will be presented in Arabic and English, creating an experience that remains deeply rooted in Palestinian history while speaking to audiences across cultures and generations.

Bringing Palestinian dance to Canadian stages

Palestinian dance has long been an important vehicle for cultural expression, connection and continuity.

For Palestinian communities in Canada, the arrival of El-Funoun offers an opportunity to experience an important Palestinian artistic institution live on stage and to share that experience across generations.

For younger Palestinians born or raised in Canada, the performance offers a connection to a cultural language that is at once traditional and contemporary.

And for audiences discovering El-Funoun for the first time, the tour offers an opportunity to encounter Palestine through its artists—not through headlines or political narratives, but through creativity, movement and storytelling.

This is what makes cultural presentation so important to Mosaic of Cultures.

Culture is not only something to preserve. It is something to experience, share and keep moving forward.

Three cities. One Canadian tour.

More than a performance

The El-Funoun Canada Tour is not simply a series of dance performances.

It is an opportunity to bring Palestinian artists into Canadian cultural spaces and to create encounters between communities, generations and artistic traditions.

It is about seeing Palestinian culture not as something frozen in the past, but as something alive—evolving, questioning, creating and speaking to the present.

For Mosaic of Cultures, this is at the heart of why we do what we do.

Our work is rooted in the belief that culture creates connection. It gives communities a way to tell their own stories, creates opportunities for artists and makers, and allows audiences to experience cultures through authentic artistic voices.

Hosting El-Funoun in Canada is a natural extension of that mission.

An invitation from Mosaic of Cultures
