Dalia Bashir

Born to a father from Jenin and a mother from Gaza’s Breij area, Dalia Bashir’s journey reflects resilience, creativity, and a love for her heritage. With a degree in Media and Journalism and a minor in Sociology, Dalia initially pursued a career in her field but soon realized it wasn’t her true calling.

During the pandemic, she discovered a new passion by enrolling in a sewing workshop as a creative outlet. Starting with a small sewing machine, some fabric, and threads, she set up a workspace in her family’s shop. Her perseverance paid off when she sold her first handmade tote bag.

Encouraged by this success, Dalia applied for a grant and launched her own workshop, aptly named “Shalabiyya”—a term of endearment meaning “beautiful” in spoken Arabic, inspired by what her mother lovingly called her as the only daughter among two sons.

Today, Shalabiyya is a thriving workshop delivering custom-made creations across Palestine and beyond, each piece reflecting Dalia’s dedication to her craft and her journey as an artisan.
